The shortcut to audience building (in 152 words)

Posting content and waiting for someone to show up is a hope strategy. Don't do it.

A friend recently asked me to give him some pointers because his content isn’t generating any audience traction. This is what I told him.

“I feel like you can attempt something more creative and not just rely on posting content and waiting for someone to make a move.

This is actually a game of gathering people.

A few years ago, I joined a running club.

They run every week. At first, it was 10 people. Now, each run has 100+ runners.

This simple weekly “action” gathers people and builds them an audience. It also gives them a TON of in-action content.

When I started my own journey from zero in late 2020, I ran a number of 30-day challenges and sprints. I was gathering people and guiding them to build in public. Over time, I broke out of obscurity and grew an audience.

Create an action and gather people. That’s the shortcut.
